I was first introduced to this gem by a photographer friend of mine, Emily. While you're at it, check out her FB Photography page! I highly reccomend her to anyone and everyone. Here is the link: https://www.facebook.com/ENPhotography?fref=ts
This little ranch is located in the foothills below Mt. Diablo. If you are a local you should definitely know what i'm talking about. It's on the West Side of the Mt. in the Walnut Creek area. I imagine this is a great place for fieldtrips for the youngsters.
Getting there is the tricky part. You're going to follow a LONG road named Oak Grove rd. I'm telling you this because for some reason my gps always stops working in this area and you're might too. You will drive for quite a bit through a bunch of trees, and a neighborhood. Soon you will approach a round-about, keep moving forward. (I like to pretend im in England for a quick sec, then move onward). Somehwere along this road it turns into Castle Rock rd, but it's the same street, just keep going straight FOREVER. Eventually you will come across Northgate High School on your right hand side. The road will quickly narrow into a small two lane road. Drive slow, you might miss your turn. A tad bit further should be your turn for Borges Ranch on the right. It's going to look a lot like someones drive way up a long narrow pathway into some trees. There are these metal pole type things in the road (almost like a bridge) that you will drive over. If you thought the two lane road was narrow, this road is even smaller! Be kind of oncoming traffic. From there you will travel through the hills along this little road for a bit. The cows roam oftly close to your car. On the right will be a small parking lot you can drive down into. This is just a small area with a pond and some picknic benches. Keep driving forward instead of turning right into the parking lot. Merge slightly to the right, then straight, until you reach another small parking lot and.....a dead end. Tada! You're there.
This place is great for sight seeing, and hiking. There is an old black smith shop, old farming equiptment like giant trackters you can take pictures on, and FARM ANIMALS. Yee. They have chicken, sheep, goats, bunnies, and huge pigs. You used to be able to go in and pet the farm animals
(For free) but i don't know if that's still the case.

They are open from 8am to sunset. Bring a jacket. The hills cast shadows and it gets chilly.
Check it out!
