Where's Rio Vista? Right? lol Most people know about this place because of the Sandy Beach Campground they have in town. Some of the local high school kids make their way out there to drink on the teeny tiny beach along side the river. That's about as good as it gets out here, unless you drive 3 hours towards Santa Cruz. Here is the website for the camp ground if you are interested: http://www.co.solano.ca.us/depts/rm/countypark/sandybeach.asp
As for the bass festival in Rio Vista, if you make your way over the Antioch Bridge and out onto the levy roads, you'll get there within thirty minutes from Antioch.
There is no fee to enter this event. But it does cost money for food, rides, and anything else you want to do/buy. Also, don't forget a 5$ bridge toll.
I've looked forward to this one each year since i was about 7 years old, if not younger. This was one of those events where everyone in my family got together after a long year and it was just boat loads of fun, literally. I don't know a bunch about fishing, but i believe this event revolves around a fishing competition (hence the "bass festival"). So if that's your thing you should look into it. I never really paid much attention to that aspect of it because all i cared about was the fair and the fireworks, duh. What little kid doesn't like carnival rides and fireworks?
This event is all weekend, (usually the second week of October) but I typically only go to this event on Saturday, which is when they have the fire works. This 2015 year it's October 9th, 10th, and 11th. Just from what i've heard, they also have a parade, and i think they used to do soap box racing for the kids. Each day was something different. The only down side is the lack of parking. The town is pretty small to begin with, so even if you have to park out of the way, it's not really a big deal because you can pretty much walk the entire town on foot. My advice is that you bring a jacket. The town is right off the river and it's notorious for windy weather. Speaking of the river, this is where the fireworks will be set off around 8 or 9. If you go early enough, down where Main st. meets the water, this is typically where everyone migrates towards to watch the fireworks. You can pretty much see them from where ever you are though. All along Front st. (the street that has the main attractions) is where you will stroll down for about half a mile. They have a bunch of vendor booths set up where you can shop. About half way down is where all the food vendors are, and there is also an old barn where they have live music and BEER. At the very end of the walk is where the carnival rides are. Ok go!
